Trivia Question

Trivia Question for the day:

Since Mike Smith has now chosen Omaha Beach over Roadster for the Kentucky Derby and F. Geroux has picked up the mount of Roadster for the Derby, will this prove to be a bad choice or a good choice?

In the early 60’s one Hall of Fame rider picked two horses in two Derby’s to ride,  only to watch the non chosen horses to run by him on the first Saturday in May by another Hall of Fame Rider.

Can you name the riders and the horses?

2018 Indiana Bred Breeders of the Year

The Indiana Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association Awards for 2018 dinner was yesterday and we took home quite a bit of hardware.

ENTRUSTED won the Indiana Sired Three Year Old Filly that Penny and I bred and own with Christine and Vince Cagle.

FLURRY won the Three Year old Filly Indiana Bred Champion and OBSOLETE was runner up. Both were bred by Penny and I.

Our homebred, THE MONEY DANCE won the Three Year Old Indiana Bred Colt that we own together with Falcon Racing (Michael J. Johnson). THE MONEY DANCE was also awarded Horse of The Year by Indiana Breed and Development as he was the Indiana Bred leading money winner of $279,453.

Our broodmare, WHISTLIN’ JEAN, which is the mother of THE MONEY DANCEWHISTLE STOP and SIGHTS AND SOUNDS won Broodmare of the Year.

Penny and I were also named Indiana Breeders of the Year. This is the 6th time we have earned this award. Hopefully we can do as well this year. We have a nice crop of 2 year olds we are looking forward to racing.

January Update

We have won just a couple races so far this winter and Oaklawn just opened up this week with over 20,000 attending on Friday and over 30,000 on Saturday. We ran 4th with the only horse we have ran there so far.

Bottom purse is $22,000 and the maiden special purse is $77,000. Both of these purses will increase as the meet goes on. When Churchill Downs opens this spring the purses will increase as well due to the opening of the Derby City Casino. Never a better time to get a horse to race.

We have a gang of two year old’s that we are presently trying to name. It is not as easy as it sounds. Pedigrees are on the website, so if you have a suggestion, please feel free to send it to us.

2018 Year End

We ended the year with 64 wins, 55 2nds and 65 thirds with purse earnings of $2,069,894. This was the stables best year ever in number of wins as well as purse money.

On the list of North American Leading trainers we were 84th by wins and 89th by earnings.

We want to thank all the clients who have helped us achieve this.

THE MONEY DANCE was the leading money winner for the stable.
