Churchill Fall meet comes to a close

The Churchill Fall meet is over with success for the stable. We are now at 41 wins for the year and over $1,100,000 in earnings.

Since the fall meet is so short (especially this year with the Breeders Cup, plus the two days with strictly 2 yr. old races) leaving only 16 days of racing, normally I would be glad to win one race. This year we have had three wins, one second and two thirds out of 14 starts. Yahoo!

One of our Indiana Breds, WHISTLIN' JEAN won a three horse photo and in the same breath we also ran third in a three horse photo.  Losing a race in a photo is always frustrating as you ran a winning race and due to some circumstance you get beat in a jump or head bob.

On Thanksgiving, as it poured down rain all day we gave thanks when RIGAMARO was moved from second to first due to a disqualification. That was her second win in a row at Churchill and also put her over $100,000 in earnings for this year (which is the only year she has ran). I think she was only one of two horses that won two races at the Churchill fall meet.

Penny also tied with WinStar Farm as second leading owner of the meet with number of wins (3) behind Ken and Sarah Ramsey which have a couple of hundred horses. Obviously it was a very good meet from our standpoint.

Now we will stay stabled here at Churchill and run a few at Turfway, Mountaineer and some Penn National while waiting to ship to Oaklawn sometime between Christmas and New Years. Most of our employees are Louisville based, so we try to stay in the area for Christmas as most have family here.

We hope to boost our numbers before the end of the year.
