Just wanted to say I’m real impressed with the bloggers here!  Hope you all are checking on a regular basis.

I am almost through my horrendous photo class, which means horse photos will be making a comeback on the blog, and hopefully over the winter break the site will be complete – exciting!

Hope all is well with everyone – here is a shot I made on Churchill’s closing day.  I had to complete a sports portfolio super-fast, so I am not sure who’s horse this is – but not one of ours.  Nevertheless, it’s nice.  Hope your Christmas shopping is coming along!

Thanksgiving Week

The stable had a couple of wins over the holiday weekend. HEY THERE CUPCAKE broke her maiden winning on the day of the Turkey followed up by CHOW WAGON winning on Friday and breaking his maiden as well. Both are home bred Hoosiers. Now that Hoosier has gotten slots, the purses will increase. The first machines should be cranked up by June. AVER a horse Tim James and I claimed for $7500.00 at Keeneland in October won tonight. We have had two thirds and a win since we claimed him.

Churchill had a good meet, really great weather wise. Churchill seems to have a lot of problems with attitude towards the fans. There was a good article in the courier journal by Jenni Reeves on the topic. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071127/COLUMNISTS03/711270451/1037/SPORTS08

Jenni Reeves is the racing columnist. Louisville is one of the few papers that still has a reporter that covers just horse racing. Read the article and judge for yourself. I would be interested in your comments.

I want to link you to our oldest daughters web and blog site. She has a lot of photo’s on display and most recently gave some tips on camera purchases for that special person on your Christmas list. www.lizzieloo.com  Click on blog.

FOOTBALL!!!!!!!

More upsets over the holiday weekend. Ohio State is just sitting there in the #3 spot just waiting for one of them to stumble so they can go to New Orleans and play in the championship game. It will take at least another week to ten days to get all the "bowls" lined up. I like how all these college coaches get fired and get million dollar settlements or buyouts. I get fired and I am lucky if I get the last months training bill paid.

I am going to the Army/Navy game this weekend in Baltimore. I have never been and have always thought it would be a neat game to attend. There also happens to be a horse sale on Sunday and Monday in Baltimore, so it fits in well. It is one of the things on my "life list". Another thing on my list is to go to The Masters Golf Tournament next year. If anyone knows a ticket connection, let me know.

Weekend News

The stable had a decent weekend. We ran 3rd in two stakes at Hoosier Park with AMATURE’S PRIZE and NEED MONEY DAD. Then in New York with MOR CHANCES and finished a good 3rd. We ended the weekend at Churchill Downs running second in a Two Year Old Filly maiden claiming race with NO MAS. This is the last week for Churchill racing and then we go on to the winter Olympics at Turfway Park.

Today was a sad day in Ohio State Football history with the announcement of LLLLLLoyd Carr’s retirement from the head coach position of Michigan. He has been there 13 years and won around 80 percent of his games. He never had any NCAA problems or violations, but he was 1 and 6 against Ohio States coach Jim Trussel. (I am sure you know that this past weekend Ohio State won over Michigan, 14-3). I know one coach that won’t get offered the job………….U of L, as they won the Orange Bowl in January and now they are 5-6.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Weekend Report

As I am sure you all know the Buckeye’s took it on the chin this weekend. They basically got out played. Now only a miracle would get them to play in the championship game in New Orleans. Now they have to beat Michigan in order to get to play in the Rose Bowl, which they haven’t played in for a few years.

We ran four horses over the weekend with three of them running second. Two of them were stakes races. All three were two year olds.

We are at the halfway point in the November Breeding Stock Sale. The sale seems a little up for the mares and "good" weanlings are selling good and the others are not. This week there are a lot of racing age horses in the sale. We have always done pretty well purchasing race horses from this sale, so we are looking.
